CSAT calculator

—CSAT
—Not satisfied

Count a response as satisfied if it scored 4 or 5 out of 5.

CSAT = (satisfied responses ÷ total responses) × 100

212 satisfied out of 260 responses is 81.5%. The usual survey asks "how satisfied were you?" on a 1–5 scale, and 4 and 5 count as satisfied. If your survey uses a different scale, decide which top scores count and stay consistent.

Because CSAT is asked right after a specific moment, such as delivery, a support reply or a first purchase, it's good at pinpointing where things go wrong. It says little about how someone feels about your brand overall.

One measures a moment, the other a relationship.

Questions about CSAT

How do you calculate CSAT?
Divide the number of satisfied responses by the total responses and multiply by 100. On a five-point scale, satisfied usually means a 4 or a 5.
What is a good CSAT score?
Higher is better, but a fair target depends on your category and what you're measuring. A CSAT after a support chat and one after a delivery aren't comparable, so benchmark each against its own history.
When should I send a CSAT survey?
Straight after the moment you want to measure: once an order arrives, once a support ticket closes. Asking days later means people remember less and fewer of them reply.
Is CSAT or NPS better?
Neither. CSAT tells you how a specific experience went and NPS tells you how customers feel overall. Many teams run both.
