In 2025 Mention was acquired by Agorapulse, stopped selling its Solo, Pro and Pro Plus plans to new customers, and began retiring its publishing features. New customers now go through a demo for the Company plan. If you're a smaller online store that liked Mention's old self-serve tiers, Mentionfront is a social listening tool you can start, pay for and cancel yourself, built around ecommerce.
Mentionfront is an independent product, not affiliated with Mention or Agorapulse.
Getting started
For a new customer in September 2026
| Mention | Mentionfront | |
|---|---|---|
| Plans on sale | Company plan | Starter, Growth, Scale |
| How to buy | Book a demo | Sign up and pay by card |
| Monthly billing | Ask sales | Yes, from $39 |
| Built for | Marketing teams and agencies of all kinds | Ecommerce and DTC brands |
Most people searching for a Mention alternative right now are reacting to these changes, based on Mention's own help center and Agorapulse's announcements.
| When | What changed |
|---|---|
| April 2025 | Agorapulse acquires Mention, out of a court-ordered receivership. The advisers on the deal announced it on April 23, 2025, describing the purchase as taking place "as part of a court-ordered receivership" and putting the combined business at over 180 employees, 9,000 clients and €25m in revenue. |
| May 22, 2025 | Agorapulse explains the plan. Its own announcement calls Mention "a pioneer in social listening technology" and says Agorapulse's strengths in publishing and engagement "perfectly complement Mention's expertise" — the split that the next three changes put into practice. |
| June 16, 2025 | Publish and Respond close to new users. New and inactive accounts lose access to Mention's publishing and response features. |
| July 2025 | Self-serve plans stop selling. Solo, Pro and Pro Plus are no longer sold to new customers. Existing subscribers keep access but can't change their current self-serve plan. |
| January 2026 | Publish and Respond removed for everyone. The modules are retired for all remaining users. |
Mention didn't get worse at listening
These changes are about packaging and focus, not data quality. Agorapulse cited Mention's data and coverage as the reason for the acquisition. If the Company plan fits your budget and needs, it's still a capable platform.
If you're on a legacy plan
You don't have to move. But since you can't change a legacy plan, adding keywords, users or mentions means moving to the Company plan or to another tool. It's worth deciding before you need the extra capacity.
Recent public reviews of Mention are thin, which is what happens when a product stops being sold self-serve. Both quotes below are older, and dated so you can weigh them accordingly — they're here because each one names something worth asking any listening vendor about, including us.
I've been using the tool for 2or 3 years now, for different projects and companies. Must say, it finds some alerts and fails with others. If you have a company name that's also a common word, you'll face a lot of difficulties.
During my last login I realised Mention.com had moved my account from my paid plan to a free plan. When I emailed them and asked why is that, they replied "this has been decided internally and I could choose one of the new plans".
A common-word brand name is the single most common cause of a noisy feed in any tool — in Mentionfront it's handled with exclude terms and a relevance check on each mention rather than Boolean syntax, and it's worth testing in a trial before you pay. The second quote describes a 2020 repackaging, five years before the Agorapulse acquisition; we include it because plan changes are the reason most people are reading this page at all.
Mention details are from mention.com and its help center in September 2026. Mention doesn't list Company plan prices on its pricing page, so ask its sales team for a current quote.

Mention serves universities, SaaS companies, agencies and global enterprises. Mentionfront only serves brands that sell products, which shows up in four places.
Upload your product CSV and each product becomes its own keyword with its own sentiment and topics. You can see that one launch is getting packaging complaints while the rest of the range is fine. How product tracking works.
"Anyone tried this?", "adding to cart" and "switching from" are labeled as recommendation requests, ready-to-buy and competitor-alternative posts, then gathered in one Opportunities tab ranked by priority.
Negative mentions are broken down into shipping, sizing, quality, packaging, customer service and other topics a store actually fixes, so a spike points to a team, not just a mood.
On TikTok, Instagram, Reddit and YouTube, Mentionfront also reads comments on matching posts. That's where most "does it work for…" questions get asked.
If what you lost in January 2026 was scheduling posts or replying from inside Mention, Mentionfront isn't the answer. It doesn't publish or reply on your behalf. Agorapulse, which now owns Mention, is where those features went, and other social media management tools cover scheduling too.
What Mentionfront does is the listening half: find the posts about your brand, products and competitors, rank the ones that need a reply, and link you straight to each one so you reply from your own account. Many small teams pair it with the scheduling tool they already use.
Write down each Mention alert's keywords and excluded words. History can't be imported, so export any mentions you want to keep.
A Mention alert often combines several terms. In Mentionfront each term is its own keyword, marked as brand, product or competitor, which is what makes per-product reporting possible.
Turn complex queries into a specific phrase plus exclude terms. Relevance checks on each mention handle a lot of what Boolean rules used to filter.
Point high-priority alerts at the Slack channel or email address your Mention notifications used to go to, and set a priority threshold.
Before your renewal date
Add your top keywords a week before a legacy Mention plan renews. Mentionfront looks back 7 days on most platforms, so you can compare a full week from both tools before deciding.
